what a shame Old Rush takes up the crack pipe...again!
G5 fuck you?
Mozilla 1.4 is out!
it was horribly infantile. In fact, as social commentary/political statements go it makes Beavis and Butthead seem like Marx and Engels. Remember the context/aims of the project though: There are several reasons why we made this album: 1) To protest against chilling laws such as the DMCA which erode our human rights to freedom of speech. 2) To illustrate how a sample of music can be transformed and used in a beautiful and creative way. 3) To have a corking good chuckle to ourselves. It is within these, artist-defined, boundaries that the success/failure of the project should be judged. Seperate should be personal subjective musical judgement. No success on any scale with track 1. Meant to say... Baclava, BITCH! Allergies... need more time... G5s.... fuck you! I love my G4 PowerBook. Sometimes. I am Bernard Sumner. And Akin, stop being jealous of Mr Thrash. He was in The Orb you know.

Playlist, hmmmm. Last night I saw Sonic Youth and Wilco for free out in the sultry heat of a Central Park evening. So I am thinking alot about the Youth. They played mostly newer material (which I most definately dig: Murray Street is a gorgeous noise). But as far as recordings: Brahms Clarinet Trio. Mountain Goats Zopilote Machine. And I am still digging through the monstrosity that is the Los Angeles Free Music Society box set: 10 CDs of wonderful artdamaged weirdness. Speaking of LA, I'm flying out there tonight for a week-long visit. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do/see? I can't wait to visit the Museum of Jurassic Technology. Ha! It was a trick! And you fell for it like the fascists you are! (From Rik, The Young Ones) I don't know if I have a favourite line... It's all favourite lines! Actually, just the geezer saying 'Bueller... Bueller...' cracks me up. It was good to find Ferris as entertaining as I thought it was... it has been a few years since the last time. i is now em b is now strong any reason? still no 'team'? what happened to the Tooting Terror? Just finished reading 'The Basque History of the World' by Mark Kurlansky. Gripping reading. Terrible, terrible things, over and over again. And then the civil war and Franco. A survival story. width="100%" - ewwww! I now have one of these, and am slowly repopulating it with things I need to get work done. I got Mozilla 1.3 yesterday but the tabbed browsing seems shot under XP - if like me you bookmark your tabs as groups, you want them to load over the top of existing tabs, not add themselves to the current crop. I found my tabs were growing all over the place and couldn't find a fix anywhere, so I went back to 1.0 this morning. Does anyone else have this moz experience (as well as the blogger thing)? I did get the full pages under moz 1.0 yesterday, but not today.
Dr K your fave line is... "I do have a test today, that wasn't bullshit. It's on European socialism. I mean really, what's the point? I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they're socialists? They could be fascist anarchists, it still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car"
"I have a test today. I have to take it. I want to get into a good college so I can have a fruitful life..."
Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Emulator II. You're no fun. Too easy. OK. What's my favourite line from the film? And I was stuck there too... on a Mac running OS9 and IE. Couldn't get out of it either. Works fine on PCs with IE and OSX/Moz.
I'm still stuck here - is this right?
Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Emulator II. I'm listening to Cupid and Psyche '85 which is just making me want to explode, such is its sonic beauty. Oh music, thou art such a tease!
Guess which film I watched last night.... Anyone...? Anyone...? With extra super-nerd l33t kudos for info on the synth in his bedroom. Ooohh yeeeeeeeeaaaah.

A shamanistic McKenzie summoning the alchemistic properties of sound: a variation of the concept of the Dream Machine, through the voice of its own creator, Brion Gysin. Brion Gysin, if I recall, was raised in Edmonton (where I go to school). An odd place for a counter culture icon to come from for sure... The new blogger design is great! It sort of worked for Mozilla for me, but always had annoying quirks. But now it's awesome!

My father comes from Preston, and I have a few relatives who still live there (grandmum, aunt & uncle). Barrie, it was never an interesting place when I lived there and I suspect nothing has changed. I live in London now, which is marginally better. The day after the h30 event, my friend had to drop off postcards for the h30 10" he and his people are releasing. He gave them to a chap, whose real name I've forgotten, but this chap had been studying in Preston, and metioned he/others had been organising these events. I briefly checked both the site out:: not my cup of tea. But then I don't like this kind of techno sound. re::What is your verdict? Guilty.

June 26, 2003 -- A computer buff who circulated a rough cut of "The Hulk" on the Internet before the movie's release turned green when he went before the judge yesterday. Kerry Gonzalez, 24, arrived at Manhattan federal court wearing a pale green shirt, a green suit and a green tie. But the burly, 6-foot-2 video pirate insisted his green tones didn't mean he was about to unleash a burst of clothes-splitting rage. "It's my nicest suit," Gonzalez shrugged, after pleading guilty to one count of copyright infringement. His lawyer, Matthew Portella, quipped, "Just don't make him angry - you won't like him when he's angry." After being told that the feds were on his tail last week, Gonzalez agreed to cop a plea that might land him in jail for between six and 12 months rather than the maximum three years. Man Who Put Early Copy of `Hulk' on Net Pleads Guilty to Piracy Thursday, June 26, 2003 By P.J. Huffstutter Los Angeles Times When Karen Randall received a phone call late one night and learned that an early, rough version of ``The Hulk'' had been pirated and posted on the Internet, one thought came to mind. ``We are going to get them. We are going to get them, crush them, stop them,'' said Vivendi Universal Entertainment's general counsel. Wednesday, she got her wish. Kerry Gonzalez, a 24-year-old New Jersey insurance underwriter, pleaded guilty in a New York City federal courthouse to criminal charges of posting the bootlegged movie on the Internet. He faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of $250,000 when he is sentenced Sept. 26.[...] http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?Category=20&ID=107407&r=0
Peanut allergy among children, which was once unknown, is now common and increasing numbers of people react badly to foods such as avocados and kiwi fruit, bee and wasp stings, drugs and latex rubber.[...] Prof Holgate said genes were partly responsible for the soaring allergy rate. "Genetics are important - allergies run in families," he said. But "the early-life experiences associated with western civilised society" must also bear some blame.[...] If allergies run in families, and the cause is mostly genetic, then there should not have been such a huge spike in the number of people allergic to peanuts. Peanuts will have been historically known as a poison and not a food if the cause were genetic. "Most pronounced is the lack of exposure to agents that stimulate the immune system in early life," he said. The immune systems of babies and small children were no longer challenged by infections, dirt and bacteria because of our sterile homes and tendency to run to the doctor. Antibiotics were frequently given, even for coughs and colds which were probably viral, and wiped out the bacteria in the gut.[...] So this means that the UK household is on average the cleanest in the world. That is bullshit. Take for example, the practice of washing up plates as done in the UK. Any American looking at how its done here would hurl if they saw it in practice. The way brits keep their food in (WHEN they do it) a refridgerator is also astonishing to Americans. If increased household hygene is the cause of the allergy spike, then the UK should not be at the top of the list. It was possible that babies could become allergic to foods such as peanuts which their mothers ate while pregnant.[...] There is some evidence that this is true... New treatments were being developed that were likely to make a real difference to allergy sufferers, he said. One neutralised the antibody responsible for the allergic reaction, while others aimed to stimulate the immune system so that it did not develop an allergic response.[...] Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization is a course of shots that you can get, which lessens your sensitivity. Dont you just love the FACTS?!?!? The Guardian [...] TNX-901 is able to block the chemical pathway responsible for food allergies. The treatment could help in people allergic to other things such as cats, eggs and other nuts. Patients who received the highest dose of the drug showed the largest improvement. The treatment cut sensitivity to peanuts in 76 per cent of the participants. "Some patients have reported that they seem to have also developed a greater tolerance to foods other than peanuts," said Hugh Sampson, the study's co-author, in the journal report. Final testing on the treatment is now being held up by litigation among the three companies that developed the drug &3151; Tanox, Genentech and Novartis. The treatment could be on the market in four years if the three companies settle soon. The study was paid for by Tanox, the Peanut Foundation and the U.S. National Institutes of Health. CBC

Okay, I get it now. I was in some strange nether-page without a preview pane or anything; the interface I'm using now is much more like the old one. I only got it by logging out and then back in again. Currently waiting for a new PC to arrive at work - flat screen LCD monitor and a real dinky box.
Eeek the new blogger interface! Where's the old one!? Dead forever. Now Blogger supports Mozilla properly, which is a blessing. I don't like not being able to see the last few comments... I can still see the last 5....the lower window is smaller on 800x600, thanks to the new tabz. sometimes blogger is slow and the Blogdial page isn't as fresh as the blogger page. the BLOGDIAL page is pulled and refreshed every 5 mins from another site, where the posts are squirted. When you run say "view page", the page is immediately refreshed. "Manage Posts" sort of does it, but you lose your blogging window, and blog entry (as I have just discovered - thankfully I always try to CTRL-C before I post on blogger to avoid such things). I just tried to find the "manage posts" section, and ctrl-c'd this post to save it, and blogger asked me if i want to save the post!!!!!! Very cool.... Not sure about this... You will love it soon enough, if only for the URL/bold/italic making buttons which means no more left out qoute marks...which I do often to my astonishment. I tried to migrate the blog to Dano weeks ago, but BLOGDIAL didnt show up on the list of migratable blogs; its here now, at last...no more need to go to IE EVER again. Im going to test it with Opera later today, Opera being even less useful than Mozilla with the previous version of Blogger.
Dano is online, at last!
Arse-licker Arse-kicker (Well, kind of, but it rhymes...) Were they really watching the same proceedings? I watched live on-line. Some excellent questions met with convoluted non-answers. Some pointless questions met with convoluted non-answers. Do we really want people like the unelected Campbell in government? Ditto Mandelson. http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/scitech/SciTechRepublish_887398.htm [Nice to see the Swiss Guards have an information warfare component working to secure the Pontiff's network. - WK] Wednesday, 25 June 2003 The Vatican has revealed it has taken on a team of experts to protect the Pope's website which is attacked by some 10,000 viruses a month and at least 30 mainly American hackers every day. "Fortunately, up to now no-one has managed to penetrate the Pope's site thanks to a highly efficient team of specialists charged with anti-virus protection who have always managed to block hackers' emails," said Archbishop Claudio Celli, secretary for the administration of the Holy See's heritage. "Young Americans are the most common and aggressive of hackers around the world seeking to cross the Vatican's e-borders," he continued. Pope John Paul II has on several occasions shown his support for the Internet, whilst warning against some of its specific uses, but for security reasons he has no personal email address. Well-wishers' messages reach the pontiff through various other addresses which are filtered by Vatican staff. For his 83rd birthday in May, the pope received some 23,000 messages. The Vatican launched its website (www.vatican.va) on Christmas Day 1995 with a page of Christmas wishes from the Pope. Now, according to Celli, the Vatican website is consulted by some 50 million surfers in 150 countries.

Mary, would you consider joining the UK government? Actually, don't... some things should not be sullied... it's just that once women get into 'power' (literally and figuratively) they seem to behave like men*. Conforming to an expected role? Or twisted by the oldest addiction? *A correct phrasing may be, 'behave as virtually all others have behaved in that position', although the two are interchangable since political sexual equality, even in our 'home of democracy' is much less than a century old. Every day on Gower Street I walk past this ... She was a suffragiste, from within whose ranks the suffragettes emerged as militant, sometimes violent, activists. Louisa Garrett used to tell a story of a scene she witnessed at Alde House, Aldeburgh. The three women were her two daughters, Elizabeth and Millicent, and their friend, Emily Davies. Before the bedroom fire, the girls were brushing their hair. Emily was twenty-nine, Elizabeth twenty-three and Millicent thirteen. As they brushed, they debated. 'Women can get nowhere', said Emily, 'unless they are as well educated as men. I shall open the universities.' 'Yes,' agreed Elizabeth. 'We need education but we need an income too and we can't earn that without training and a profession. I shall start women in medicine. But what shall we do with Milly?' They agreed that she should get the parliamentary vote for women. Vagina Power!

The US/Mexico Border Crossing Card (BCC): A Case Study in Biometric, Machine-Readable ID http://www.sonic.net/~undoc/bccnew.htm

EU backs biometric passports

By John Leyden Posted: 23/06/2003 at 17:06 GMT European Union governments last week agreed to embed computer chips containing biometric data in passports. The plans to create passports carrying information on a person's fingerprint or retinal scans are presented as a way to reduce counterfeiting and fraud. Biometric chips would also be implanted in visas issued to foreign nationals travelling to Europe. [...] Under the US Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002, countries whose citizens enjoy visa-free travel to the United States "must issue passports with biometric identifiers no later than Oct. 26, 2004," the IHT reports. [...] Meanwhile there's no talk yet about any insistence about biometric passports for Americans travelling to Europe. The Register ***************** The United States, which does not require its citizens to carry ID cards, has for years used biometric "crossing cards" to help police its border with Mexico. . U.S. Embassies and consulates in Mexico have issued 6 million such cards since 1998. The cards include a digital photograph and two electronically collected index fingerprints, which can be checked against a government database of individuals caught violating immigration laws.[...] International Herald Tribune

Been reading about the Hafler Trio following the earlier posts. Fascinating stuff - has anyone got any of it and wants to share an opinion? I don't know much about the Hafler Trio, but I had the honour recently of experiencing a Hafler Trio event in my home town [Preston, Lacashire]. Best thing I've been to in a long time. Lasted about 4 hours [20:00-24:00]. Arrived at the Arts Centre. Exchanged a piece of paper with faces on it for a piece of paper with a three-eared 'rabbit' on it. Bottom corner reads 77/222. Inside an old church, the centre of which contains a collection of instruments and objects, set-up in anticipation to be played. At either end of the central open space were two screens, both displayed an area of ground covered in white tarpauline. One screen showed soil being thrown off [film was reversed] three egg-shaped objects sat in a simple black frame construction. The soil was being replaced back onto the ground on the other screen. Sound was of the film backwards. Film[s] end. A performer walks into the middle of a room and swithches on a motorised crank, at the same time placing an egg into a pan. The end of crank stretches and releases a small upright bellows. It wheezes. And is left to play on it's own for a while. Looking up to the walls above the central open space, a video projection of a [possibly - memory is fuzzy] pentagon opens and contracts like a sphincter. Other layers of video are added later on. A performer enters the space, sits and slowly begins to process electronically the sound of the small bellows. A while later, 3 more performers enter, play along and gradually a drone builds. The instruments: 2 harmoniums [I think] and one bass [unneccesary IMHO]. This continued for quite some, and 'this' was "Breath". A bearded man dressed as a chef informs the audience they are now to follow the 2 other chefs [with umbrellas] to the next location. We all leave, walking along the streets of Preston's student 'district', following these two chefs, who are by now camping it up lordily twirling umbrella's and skipping merrily. We arrive at a small cafe and cram inside. Near the door sit the three egg-shaped objects in the frame as seen in the film. We are given the following text: one the transition of one part of the flood to another mode of ingestion. previous speech made manifest through numerical significance as outlined previously. bodily functions become prominent. precursors of angels. development. a fan moves past a dagger. the sun is used for divination. emerald and flecked gold. blue and emerald green. sky blue and bright pale yellow. the point. Playing through a speaker in the cafe is a h30 drone. Also the sound of a space, people moving objects and talking. I assume this is live from the Arts Centre, setting up for the next stage. We sit and chat to our friends for about half an hour and the windows fill with condensation. The 2 chefs gesture us to leave and follow them. They don't speak to us. We walk back thorugh the same 2 streets to the Arts Centre. As we get near to the centre we hear a drone sound being broadcast from somewhere. Can't quite judge where, but we continue into the church. Inside the church, the central space has been arranged with tables and blue chairs. There is a low drone playing and the smell of toast. We sit at the tables. At the alter end of the space is a screen projected ontio which is 'to be contd.', and two small blue circles, one light blue and unfocussed, the other darker blue and crisp. On the opposing wall above the entrance is projected the time. The drone develops slowly and increases in intensity/volume throughout the next 45 minutes. Slowly, very, very slowly, waiters move towards the tables holding pots of tea. We are served tea, poured using very slight movements. This continues, at the same snail's pace, until we all have tea, toast, and finally blue mints. At one stage the music cuts, 'stop', then 'continue', and things proceed. Whilst this is going on, the main chef with the beard [Andrew McKenzie] occassionally throws bags of flour at the floor. Again we are asked to follow the chefs with umbrellas. We leave and return to the same cafe. Again the drone, and again a text: two holding, and the absorbtion. young women that help those at sea. half a body, illuminated by reflection from another. the possibility of the coming into being. the third being made manifest by means of the duplicity. a receptacle for something, with the imitation of the holy. the smell of one of the gifts. the substance that was the answer. mother-of-pearl. removal of dust. the relation. We are not in the cafe long before we are asked to follow again. This time we take a different route and go up the hill and towards a pub, "Einstein's Theory", which has a chimney-like tower near to it. The time, in the same clock-face is projected onto the tower. As we approach the pub we hear the drone sound again, but only for a short moment, and due to the doppler effect we assumed it came from the car that drove past. We enter the pub into the room at the right side of the bar. There are a few locals drinking in there but they move out to the bar area. The room lights are off and the bearded chef hands a cd to the bar man, which is then played over the pub sound system. The 2 chef guides gesture us to drink. There are windows down one side of the room which look out onto a car parking space between the pub and tower. The area is brightly lit and our 2 chef guides start to dance, a la 'singing in the rain', whilst they are showered with water from a sprinkler pointed at them by the bearded chef. We stand there, in the pub, drink in hand, looking at this scene as if it were a large screen. When the dancing ends, all three stand together and stare up at the tower, onto which changing geometric designs are being projected. Some of us stand outside to get a better view. Then back to the cafe. No paper this time. Sounds from speaker. Sit for a while. And then we leave. Then off on another route. This takes us to a different building. We wait outside for a while then walk into pitch blackness, a tunnell of black cloth which gradually opens out into a smallish room which smells of incense/josticks. A pleasant smell. The lighting is somewhat orange and muslin is draped roughly from the ceiling. There is sound playing. On the floor is a small old white porcelain sink. It is tilted slightly and filled with soil. Two eggs rest on the soil in the bottom two corners. In front on a piece of tissue is the pelvis and leg bones [joined] of a bird. On the floor at the other end of the room are a pile of clothes. We gradually sit down as the bearded chef standing behind [not playing] the grand piano adjusts the sound. Projectors from around the room display different orange/red colours onto the muslin. Suddenly, a nude male and female walk confidently into the space where the clothes are piled. Slowly they begin to dress each other in each other's clothes. This takes time and with the absolutely stunning sound together with the general ambience in the room is an intense and rather beautiful experience. Once they are both dressed they embrace, then exit the room. At one stage the sound quietens and as it does the projector reels rapidly rotate from slide to slide causing there on inherent rhythms. The light dims somewhat and the bearded chef goes over to the sink, buries the two eggs using a spade, then buries the skeleton. At one point the sound jumps greatly in volume, a stimulating noise. The time is projected onto the ceiling. We leave and return to the cafe. Pass the parcel. Some lucky individual leaves with the cdrs of material constructed/used for the evening. Never to be released. None of the people I'm with win, but my friend leaves Preston after his first visit believing it to be the cultural capital of England.
I bust a nut when I saw Apple's new g5 (well... almost). What a beautiful piece of serious-looking machinery, the first tower design of theirs I have liked since my beige g3 model came out. I am still skeptical about their software (iChat, Safari) though. Both lack any sort of advanced features (where's the gpg encryption on iChat?!) so they really are only of use to beginner types. Safari is very very stunted compared to something like Mozilla. Speaking of their hardware... I had the chance to play around with a new iBook a couple of days ago... beautiful machines! The white varnish finish is just wonderful. Tools that look good as objects are some of my favourite things.

..."I've often thought of going down to THESE records, and this may well be the spur I needed"... well best to do so while we are still here...as things stand our future is uncertain (re: our building being sold and the advances of the property developers who bought it...) but we are still around for the time being. i say saturday, as it's the best day to play things, in the week we often get snarled by bizziness things and can't, ahem, 'serve'. ring the bell on the white door next to the red door that has 112 on it and someone will let you in.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3012170.stm All the big four operators now offer a commercial service so you can send them a telephone number and they will tell you where it is Mr Overton said Data Protection legislation means that tracking cannot be done without consent of a handset owner. I'm sure I read a while ago that th epolice (or someone else) said tracking by mobile phones was impossible. Anyway, who reckons MI6 pay attention the Data Protection act?
I've often thought of going down to THESE records, and this may well be the spur I needed.
"Masturbatorium" and "Mastery of Money" are unavailable (as unfortunately are most of their best releases from 1988-1996), these things were made in small numbers, so difficult to track down, both have been known to turn up on E-Bay though. "A Loud Egg" is part of "A Thirsty Fish" from 1987, and one of the finest from the 1980's, available in (trunkated) form on CD (one side missing), but what you reeeeeeeely waaaant is the original double vinyl. if you treck down to These on a saturday afternoon they will play you some.
noodle-free jazz read this intitially as noodle freejazz. a genre to aspire to? I discovered Hafler Trio at my college radio station in 1997. The packaging was just screaming to be plucked from the stacks and the sounds inside sent my latenight listenings from fear to delight. I dig How to Reform Mankind. Reminds me of my forays into the soundscapes of Stillupsteypa...
I always reccomend "Masturbatorium". I always reccomend "Mastery of Money". I always reccomend "A Loud Egg".
Been reading about the Hafler Trio ... has anyone got any of it I have a few of their releases. You have to experience it, description doesn't make much sense. But it is great stuff. This is relatively poppy: also "an utterance of the supreme ventriloquist" "one dozen ecomomical stories" has a wide palette of sounds as is zoviet*france stuff (great that is):
This bloke has got some incredible left/right hand dexterity going on. The little videos on how to play the Stick are really interesting. I can't do anything like that, not even pat my head and rub my tummy together. Though I do like to try, every now and again. Been reading about the Hafler Trio following the earlier posts. Fascinating stuff - has anyone got any of it and wants to share an opinion? Also eating my first bag of Scampi and Lemon Nik Naks in a long time. Wow. It's been a long time.
Just received my original blogger invite!
i had something of an epiphany a month back ... bought a couple of bargain-basement double cds of the Oscar Peterson trio live in Paris, a selection of performances between the late '50s & late '60s ....... it's an extraordinary collection, documenting several changes in the line-up, the increasing economy and scarily precise snap of the groove .......... such speed, both hands at times playing exactly the same notes an octave apart, with absolutely no delay between left & right, total synchronicity ... noodle-free jazz, pure & clean
the truth hurts - so wear it
Music, isn't it great? Listening to Be Bop Deluxe again; last time I listened to this was about 2 months ago, during some really heavy work. It hath transported me right back there like no other sensory prod can. Astounding. It would be interesting to do some sort of sonic bookmark project - what-songs-where for the ultimate brain-rewind or something like that.
These things are uncanny ...

Pitfalls of Transgene Containment in Chloroplast

As transgenic contamination is becoming a big issue, biotech companies are proposing to put transgenes in the chloroplast genome instead of the nuclear genome in order to prevent them from spreading. Prof. Joe Cummins reveals the pitfalls. [...] [..]The majority of proposals for preventing the spread of transgenes by putting them into chloroplasts assume that chloroplasts are maternally inherited, and absent from pollen.[..] http://www.i-sis.org.uk/chloroplast.php

Transgenic Weeds Help Hackers Poach Corn Computing Cycles

March 4, 2051 DECATUR, IL--Edible resources giant Archer Daniels Midland today launched a legal and public relations campaign designed to discourage poachers from using new breeds of transgenic weeds to siphon off computer cycles generated by fields planted with SmartCorn, an engineered corn variety equipped with DNA-based computational and networking powers. "We want to make clear that there is zero tolerance for 'weedhacking,'" declared ADM CTO Alice Montie.[...] http://www.futurefeedforward.com/front.php?fid=40
It's probably been on television or repeated but Radio Four's Broadcasting House (when it is good it is a bit like an audio Private Eye) played extracts from the tapes the Panorama team in Guantanamo Bay recorded (The section is about twenty minutes in)
Michael Meacher says GM crop safety unproven, sacked. New Environment minister says Michael Meacher stoopid. Quelle surprise! I saw Hulk DVDs on sale in Hackney on Saturday.
Bought one of these at the weekend to replace my ailing and very sick ICF-2001. Really not in the same league - the 2001 has superior sound and ease of use, and takes an external antenna easier. But the 7600 is smaller, has more memories, wider reception (goes all the way to 29.999 khz, not that I've ever heard much beyond 20k) and really amazing SSB control - 7000-7100 khz has suddenly become a new world to me. It also has stereo output on FM so I can hook it up to my amp on the rare occasions that I actually want to hear UK FM radio. Yep, it's not a **serious** rig, but it's pretty nice and was 130, which I say is not bad.
Astonishing power in that file... The unadjusted version is far better - the rain is just a patter and then the crack and roll at full power, you can hear the electricity in the air. It lasted at least half an hour I caught twenty (some with minidisc auto correction - I was still half asleep) reminds me of the 'golden days' of the Hafler Trio list... I'm still *blinded* by the insight. A [sheep] arrived in the post this morning - wow.
i smoke skunk / hash / crack I knew it. Kris / Thrash you have not acquitted yourself very well. You sound completely addled; a babbling lunatic...a "Johnny Ryal" made flesh. Now, I dont have anything against lunatics, as long as they are funny; but you are, for certain, un-funny; a crashing bore, incoherent, rambling and ultimately, unispiring. Your worst crime, next to not posting at all, is that you stubbornly refuse to punctuate. I also appears, frighteningly, that you cannot read. The signal to noise ratio in here at BLOGDIAL is perfect; there is no noise at all. People who post here are reliable, interesting, funny, intelligent, insightful, and can think clearly even when drunk. You, are none of those things. You do not post here regularly. The scant few posts you have made have been of the lowest calibre; a waste of bytes, trash not even worthy of being called a troll. I didnt invite you to join BLOGDIAL, you asked for an account. I gave you an access, and you BLEW IT. Crack fuelled lunacy will not soil the pristine dashed borders of this great place. I will decide your fate, and carry out sentence shortyl. Yes shortyl. Bailiff's, TAKE HIM DOWN.
Thinking about getting one of these, current cartridge a bit sacked. Also, hooray for arguments!
sheesh, what a time to return to Blogdial, reminds me of the 'golden days' of the Hafler Trio list... hello everybody. have been reading and viewing your fine posts from afar, back to posting again now...

ok ok sorry for the tone just got a little incensed because i worked so hard on my album and i wanted people to like it i worked so hard to get the website to there even though i know its shit :( And not to repeat any libels, but it smells to me that you are being shut down because of that list post that you made which pissed someone off rotten. All it takes is a phone call to an isp to have an account shut down...insane isnt it? yes i mentiond the phrase "american zionist filth is getting me down" which in my opinion is completely justified (baiting again - ignore - ed) although another word other than filth could be used i refer to the filth aspect of zionism rather than the people within who im sure and genuine and sincere people with faith but ultimately misled if one studies history i believe (baiting again - ignore - ed) but thats my own personal blah blah and another matter... im sure you all know what im talking about unless you are american of course hehehe (baiting again - ignore - ed) seems people get a funny bee in their bonnet about the phrase american zionist filth i just find it funny how people react i posted it on a list - just to see , ya know... bit of a wind up like i did to you akin (baiting again - ignore - ed) some people said yeah nice one thrash and others call me a nazi someone must be getting the definition wrong either that or people are so out of whack in what they percieve to be right that its not true the idea that i want to kill a race of people because i say this is just unthinkable - the killing within it is what i am protesting about how can i then contradict myself and feel hate toward the jews as a race! ridiculous! what i have a problem with is israeli government policy which has americas huge girth planted right up it the zionist friends of bush have made this little think wank and they are all sitting around congratulating each other on how they gonna take over iran /syria all the contracts all the connections they all fit so badly it makes me cringe with embarassment and i cant believe the people within it dont say - jesus this just isnt morally right there has to be some representation from another mind set.. actually that wasnt the reason worldpay let us down they wanted our album removed and i sacked them immediately.. anyway bye sorry Ill leave it to you to explain what that was all about. (baiting again - ignore - ed)
The two of you change that tone please.
I tried to leech all the tracks yesterday, but there was some carp about registering to get access; I tried to ftp all the tracks at once, but got "forbidden"; I dont want to have to right click and download each file one at a time.(ooooooooooooooo. sooooooohhhhohrrrrreeeeeeee) no access to level 2 music folder no access to level 5 music folder (that was my web programmer that left it like that, i did tell him to take it off , sorry) You shouldnt have to register to listen to music. Period. ive spent the last 9 months on and off developing my site and trying to get people to help for free because of cash flow the idea of another level that you have to pay for is mine there are no actual tracks stored in those levels yet so you still getting everything i have i think its pretty ungrateful of you really... im sorry that i didnt have the cash flow and time to put a special akin download all button ill try and update it for next time you visit... how i am supposed to eat without selling something? are you rich? cos if you are you are selfish what are you rich and denouncing the captialist system? sort your head out mate.. this is now how i imagine you: you sit back and blog your life on the beach with your handheld sipping cocktails paid for on your card and tell the world how everything should be free! You dont need to collect ANY of the information that you are trying to collect as a prerequisit to hearing music: I DON'T! you can download immediately ! get a grip.. ok ive finished ranting now let that be a lesson ta ye thrash
Dont be an ass...unless you like being an ass. as it happens i do like, but this time its you that is the ass my friend... :-) have you ever admitted to being an ass akin? somehow i think thats something you find almost impossible to do.. and hell i dont even know you! i dont need know it alls telling me what to do with my website i can do what the fuck i like - and thats it (i stand by that statement) No one is telling you what to do with your website, and yes, we do know that you can do "what the fuck" you want with it. Like I clearly explained, I am not saying that you dont have the right to collect this and any other information that you want; its your business. and, its just my worthless 2c. you *are* telling me what to do, you just slagged me website and you said that all my music should be free implying that my music *has* to be free but you didnt even look at it properly! you said my tracks were not available for free - which they clearly are i even wrote a frickin legal licence so it is legal for people to copy my tracks i presume that seeing as you are such a proponent of free music you must have also written your own licence or be employing one from creative commons or similar? or its just 'free' I looked at your site before you posted your "announcement" here, and said nothing about it. If you had not posted, I would never have mentioned it at all. You cannot come here, post bullshit and expect no one to notice or say anything. i didnt post bullshit! i posted my album - hey - thanks! besides i gave some good information before on this page i thought i just havent posted for a while because i been doing this album but hell - chuck me off if you like its not exactly going to ruin my life I thought you were safe till i got this demand for free tracks when they are all bloody free anyway! What are you smoking? I want some! This is precisely why I dont let idiots onto BLOGDIAL. Idiots dont post often, and when they do, they post garbage or worthless stuff to promote themselvs. i smoke skunk / hash / crack whatever but that still doesnt make me as deluded as you! you call me an idiot - but you just aint even researched your facts properly you are a prize fucking turnip mate for saying that but you know, nobody's perfect! you'll be lucky if you have anything left but idiots if you carry on being this fascist.. Ummm which one is it?? let me explain something for ya mate the music on my site is free - OK? GOTIT ? FREE? that means i done loads of hard work and anybody gets to listen to it for free and if they like then can go onto buy it with full artwork nice package etc.. BUT.. what i am saying is nobody should ever *EXPECT* art for free (unless we as a world rid ourselves of money) that is an insult to composers and you are the idiot for saying it (specially after reading your web page) but of course you cant be because it seems your definition of idiot is that of someone who comes to blog dial every now and again and tells the community what they have been working on so you dont allow people to talk about what they are doing just post pics of their babies in big shoes/... :-0 i am genuinely upset you have treated me so harshly you can be sure i wont bother telling ya what ive been up to again - no problem my company is very small in fact its so small that it cant make vinyl yet little own afford food! so i think im *sort* of justified in spreading the word about it its not like im some big corporate company just because i was in the orb doesnt mean i am rich and part of the establishment thats what you dont like or you just dont like the music.. ? well.. whatever... What does it mean to use the term "Free Music"? The idea is similar to the notion of Free Software [1], and like with freeware, the word freerefers to freedom, not price. Specifically, Free Music means that any individual has the freedom of copying, distributing, and modifying music for personal, noncommercial purposes. Free Music does not mean that record labels and musicians cannot charge for records, tapes, CDs, or files. so you see you even say the same thing yourself on your website so WTF? Dont promote your bullshit on BLOGDIAL. Period. BULLSHIT!?!?!?!?! WHAT!?!?! i thought you might be interested seeing as its an album for free music and against censorship and the dmca what about your music mate!?!?!?! come on then send me some of your best music stuff you have written yourself only and ill give it a review right on your own page i'll be honest about it boy, but if it aint up to scratch expect to get a proper slating boy And frames SUCK! # not our ones! they still register with the search engines correctly... the only thing that sucks around here is your last real nob end of a post angry tr011

Woke up to thunder this morning Astonishing power in that file... I was in a lightning storm once...unforgetable. It was around 8PM, totally dark, completely overcast, with the clouds at what seemed to be a high level. There were dozens of flashies going off per minute, like paparazzi bulbs flashing a superstar at a Royal premiere. It was simply breathtaking, and, because the flashes were coming from 360° around us, our shadows darted around the ground...it was almost like being in a strobe light testing factory. There is nothing like extreme tropical weather; the power of it, its single mindedness. Was that in the 6 rules? Maybe not th e360 deg: "from all around us"... more simple.

look mate ... im not being funny but you really think you own the world dont you? Dont be an ass...unless you like being an ass. i dont need know it alls telling me what to do with my website i can do what the fuck i like - and thats it No one is telling you what to do with your website, and yes, we do know that you can do "what the fuck" you want with it. This is precisely why I dont let idiots onto BLOGDIAL. Idiots dont post often, and when they do, they post garbage or worthless stuff to promote themselvs. THE MUSIC *IS* FREE dont expect my art for free - that s not your right... and (i) give them the fucking music FOR FREE... BUT IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THEY EXPECT MY HARD WORK FOR FREE Ummm which one is it?? and your comments let me see - havent helped at all.... Like i said, my worthless 2c. Dont promote your bullshit on BLOGDIAL. Period. And frames SUCK!
Bastard dial - up connection stalled everything this morning. Woke up to thunder this morning - great start to the summer (but it is sunny now). (The mp3 seems to have auto-adjusted the levels) Good words on writing six memos for the next millennium italo calvino. No one should believe anything Do not believe AE, see for yourself the summer fields
Big Brother in action.... A couple of months ago, my car was stolen. (Actually, I reported it as stolen, though in fact it had merely been towed away and impounded after being parked in a 'residents only' parking spot, but I wasn't to know that, so we'll gloss over it.) When I realised my error, I shelled out the stratospheric fine, reclaimed my knackered old jalopy (which is worth roughly the same amount as the fine), and tried not to think anymore about the whole sorry incident. But the police still had the car registered as stolen..... Anyhow, now that things are starting to happen at Lords, let's finish the car story. Turns out that the Metropolitan Police have a system which tracks every car that is driven into central London, logging its registration number. As soon as I entered its environs this morning, the closest police station was alerted to my 'stolen' car, and they came after me. Pretty impressive actually - it's nice to know that there are some things with the authorities actually do well, and there are certain systems which actually work. So when they checked out my credentials - ('Don't you know who I am?' My audience is waiting for me.' 'The Guardian? Bloody lefties....') - the nice officers let me go with a laugh and a smile. And that was that. From the Guardian Cricket commentator. http://sport.guardian.co.uk/cricket/story/0,10069,982804,00.html And again... What made you choose them to host your site - if they -are- hosting it. well, they are the cheapest and most convenient... well, they were.... I tried to leech all the tracks yesterday, but there was some carp about registering to get access; I tried to ftp all the tracks at once, but got "forbidden"; I dont want to have to right click and download each file one at a time. The Telegraph makes people register to read their "news", The Guardian does not. The Guardian is one of the most read online newspapers. The Telegraph is nothing and nowhere. There is a lesson there, similar to the lesson of iTunes as compared to the other absurd "services". Nothing beats free. Ever. well dont get em then! quite simple! JESUS AKIN! you do not have to register to get the tracks they are all free! YOU ARE SUCH A KNOW IT ALL! look mate ... im not being funny but you really think you own the world dont you? i have been doing music since i was 14 and the reason i set up my label is to do my own music without having to deal with record companies and manager tossers who have already ripped a million off me... i dont need know it alls telling me what to do with my website i can do what the fuck i like - and thats it THE MUSIC *IS* FREE MAYBE YOU NEED TO BRUSH UP ON YOUR WEB SKILLS TOO MUCH TIME TELLING PEOPLE WHAT *YOU* THINK AND NOT *WHAT IS ACTUALLY THE CASE* dont EVER tell me what info to collect what to do with downloads *i* think that people are getting are pretty fucking good deal as it is and i am willing to overlook the fact that i cant even afford a loaf of bread today and give them the fucking music FOR FREE... BUT IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THEY EXPECT MY HARD WORK FOR FREE (what *when* would they be happy when im thrown out of my flat?) THAT ATTITUDE STINKS dont expect my art for free - that s not your right... im still in the process of twiddling my website and your comments let me see - havent helped at all.... Releasing the files on all the networks, but restricting access to registrants on the home site is crazy; all I have to do, theoretically, is go to KaZaa and leech everything I want without registering at your site....bizarre! i think YOU are bizarre ! the point is you can listen before you buy not you can leech at will that attitude stinks and im surprised to see someone from the music business giving it that but hell, go ahead mate you are obviously in your own little bubble and you can carry on that way! (besides im not releasing the music i supply to the people who register) that gives them extra services which take up man power and time its all time akin as im sure you appreciate the reason WHACKPAY LTD bottled out of it was because of the music - not the post! apparently they not do any hip-hop there then! good luck! THRASH
blatant bit of self promotion... Now of course, I am not saying that you dont have the right to collect this and any other information that you want; its your business. Im just throwing in my worthless 2c. Denying access to music for any reason is just crazy. The whole point of freeing/sharing music is that you free it without any artificial boundaries to getting the music. Free should mean free; when you take a registration from me in exchange for access that is a payment. I choose not to pay it. It should be easy and convenient to get music; at the very least, there should be a single point to get all the files in one go, and if I want to ftp the files at once, I should be able to simply do that for my convenience. Releasing the files on all the networks, but restricting access to registrants on the home site is crazy; all I have to do, theoretically, is go to KaZaa and leech everything I want without registering at your site....bizarre! The Microphones - Mt. Eerie on black vinyl. (though the CD's packaging is a bit more interesting... it's still a CD) VERY recommended. Intense, personal, very honest. Someone who doesn't care for trends. Very personal music is the best kind... art for art's sake...

thought it would be easiest if i took some common baseball terms and phrases and explain what they really mean. sound good? no? well, screw you mister gay baseball fan, here we go: what they call it what it really means pitching signals the catcher flicks his cock around while the pitcher watches. if you look closely, and you get a particularly long-fingered catcher, he'll even diddle his asshole once in awhile. spiking this is when a play is close and a person is sliding into the bag, but intentionally strikes the defender with the bottom of his feet (which are sporting spikes). what you probably don't know is that this is sort of a game of "tag" that the players play - anyone who's shins are bleeding at the end of the game has to blow the other team. seventh inning stretch this is where the team distracts with some antics on the field (a mascot, some music, whatever) after the 7th inning, so the team can have group buttsex in the dugout. have you ever been to a yankees home game? "coincidentally" their music of choice is by the village people. i don't care what part of the world you're in, folks, if "ymca" is on the pa, somebody is having anal. jock strap i know this is an easy target, but cut me some slack. most people don't realize this, but the jock strap (which holds a hard, plastic cup to protect the players genitals should they be struck with a ball) also has several available attachments. ground rule double two huge nuts clearing the dugout this often happens when it's suspected that a pitcher intentionally hits a batter with a pitch. however, the players are really just running out on the field and forming a huge crowd or pile, so that the two players at the center or the bottom can get it on without the crowd finding out. that's how gay they are, folks...they can't even wait till the end of the inning. bunt players that hit homeruns get all the fanfare, but the person who hits it the shortest distance gets the most cock after the game. infield fly the batter hits the ball as high as he can, so all the infielders are looking at the sky (and so are the fans). this allows him to round the bases and jiggle the defenders balls before returning to the dugout for some hardcore ass. rest assured there'll be more later.
oops sorry blatant bit of self promotion... WTF? :The Madonna Remix Project This album was triggered by a small sound byte of speech left by Madonna as a decoy to frustrate users sharing her songs via Peer-to-peer (P2P) networks on the internet. Any holes a goal in this riotous, wondrous, fairy tale journey through 14.5 tracks of deep anal hilarity. As a collective of artists we have no particular beef with or even interest in Madonna herself. There are several reasons why we made this album: 1) To protest against chilling laws such as the DMCA which erode our human rights to freedom of speech. 2) To illustrate how a sample of music can be transformed and used in a beautiful and creative way. 3) To have a corking good chuckle to ourselves. At the beginning of this album we had clear intent to make a serious protest record, but we got bored halfway through and started being silly. Sorry bout that. We hope it's clear on listening to the album that the aim of the project really is to have fun, raise awareness and to make good music. Even if you are not familiar with copyright debates, or have no interest in digital rights, the album is accessible and enjoyable to listen to - as long as you are not easily offended by the word 'fuck'. Mind you her voice does get on yer tits after a while. you are free to copy the album for your friends as outlined in the bLiP licence www.justablip.co.uk

GEORGE ORWELL'S SIX RULES

1. Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print. 2. Never use a long word where a short one will do. 3. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out. 4. Never use the passive where you can use the active. 5. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent. 6. Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous. Let us see what happens to the posts when we follow these simple rules and thanks to the mighty AK for linking to this!
Why do people believe in gods? (And more recently, in God?) No one should believe anything. Belief is the most dangerous thing in the world. Don't believe this either, but it should be considered. "Belief is the death of intelligence ... for as soon as one believes a doctrine of any sort, or assumes certitude, one stops thinking about that aspect of existence." -Robert Anton Wilson. Do you have your own personal blog? Nope. Generally all I want to say goes to Blogdial, and I know a lot of what's on my mind isn't worth repeating, so I try never to post that kind of stuff. I was thinking of making a sketch-log for myself, like weekly scans of my sketchbook etc... but I doubt that'd be interesting. Sketchbooks are pretty personal, too. Do you post to any other community blogs? Nope. They are quite rare, I haven't seen many at all. Are you a member of or regular poster to any other net communities, be it usenet, bbs or forums? I used to be a member of many but now only a couple. I chat at a place called fearsome oekaki when I want to talk to be silly and talk to silly people (there's a quite a few losers/bad artists there but whatever... it's fun). I never post drawings there though because I haven't learned how to use my drawing tablet.... I also have an IRC server that I talk to friends through. Do you regularly read personal blogs (if so, which ones do you like)? I read ToastyFrog but he has as of today shut down. I also read Scott Sharkey's as he is usually pretty funny. I've been reading both of these for years, it's kind of weird seeing Frog shut down. Do you prefer to read RSS feeds or to be immersed in the experience of the web? Web. I can't really bother with RSS. And finally... What do you make of web communities, personal blogs and weblogging in general? I used to be all for bbs-type places but now I'm not so sure. The conversation can get very futile and very overdrawn very fast. Community blogging keeps it fresh. Web communities are pretty cool but they must keep grips on reality. They can get inane and stupid very fast. Or, they should stay inane and not try to be anything more. I see too many places devolving into stupid arguments because they are trying to blend inanity and (pathetic attempts) at useful conversation. Also, I babble. Personal blogs are pretty cool when they are very informative, in political or other ways. They are also cool when they are used as hubs to real-world activities (like get-togethers and such). I really don't need to read about the boring regular-life details of anyone's life. And to the 2000000 bloggers (generally teens) who think your mundane details are some kind of a statement: you are stupid pretentious assholes. Turn off the computer. Do something productive.

This is pretty accurate - even the colour - though "sexual" should say "1000 fetishes" (not that I have an LJ account, but that is my online "nick"). (also the "number" should be 50 as that is the "random hyperbole" number that I always use).
